Mark Knowles

Mark Knowles is an accomplished sportsman and world-class athlete. He retired this year after the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games where he was the Opening Ceremony Flag bearer. Knowles now works at the Queensland Academy of Sport as a Personal Development Advisor and runs a hockey coaching business with Kookaburras legend Jamie Dwyer.

Knowles debuted for Australia in January 2004 and is one of only six Kookaburras to reach 300 caps. He is currently on 312 caps having scored 29 goals, bringing numerous highlights along the journey:
  • Australian Men's Hockey team the 'Kookaburras' 2003-2018
  • Captain of Kookaburras 2013-2018, co-captain of Kookaburras 2009-2013.
  • 324 International Games for Australia
  • World Hockey Player of the Year 2014
  • Commonwealth Games 2018 Opening Ceremony Flag bearer 
  • 4x Olympic games. 2004 Gold, 2008 & 2012 Bronze
  • 4x Commonwealth Games Gold medals 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018
  • 3x World Cups. Silver 2006, Gold 2010 & 2014
